Hello All, This will be my first Cyclocross (sounds fun) and from what i was able to google about it i am going to try and convert my road bike for this event. I ordered 700x28 knobby tires (hope they clear),I have SPD pedals on mtn bike shoes, will remove all unnecessary road accessories. Any other recommendations? how about some padding or carrier on the cross bar? Thanks and looking forward to this event.

Sara I think I can help out with this one. Blue so glad to hear you will be joining in the fun. If the 28s work they would be a good choice. Another good option would be to use your mountain bike. Many people have started out using a mountain bike in cross. They are a little heavier, but you won't get a flat as easy. You won't have any problems using mountain pedals or shoes, as that is what most people use for cross. You don't really need any padding or modifications to the top tube. We have posted the course on the turkey cross facebook page (make sure to like to stay up to date). Look forward to seeing you there.

Sara & Andy, Thank you both for the replies. The Schwalbe CX pros 700x30 arrived and they do fit... BARELY… If the course is muddy then they will rub… I have an older Miyata road bike that has the clearance so I think I will just set it up for the event. Thanks again and i cant wait for this ride
