Pi-Workshop: Git and Github Training (Prerequisites Suggested)

Workshop

In this workshop, we'll move beyond basic git/github usage (see prerequisite links below) and cover some slightly more advanced git topics, such as: 

Developing a stronger mental model of a git graph

Merging vs. rebasing

Comparing git with a couple of other source control systems

Smudge/Clean Filters

Dealing with binary files

Deploying and maintaining your own git server

Other topics and Q&A. There will most likely be some hands on work, so bringing your laptop is recommended, but not required.

Instructor:  Andrew Johnson

Andrew is Cofounder and CTO of dRaster, where he has helped build several software products targeted at the VFX and Video Game industries. Andrew has experience with projects small and large that employ a mixture of programming languages, source control systems, and build systems. dRaster's clients/customers include Autodesk, EA, Blizzard, and others.
