NOMS is Glad everyone could come out to see us last night! We had a great discussion about various types of yeast and enjoyed tasting salami, several cheeses, homemade kimchi, kombucha, sourdough, and home-brewed beer...all of which are fermented by various yeasts (and in some cases bacteria!) If you are interested in participating in another one of these events, please email us at [masked] to be added to our email list or give suggestions on future topics of discussion/workshops.

Is there a cost and can I bring my 5 year old with his legos to stay busy? Really interested in learning more about fermentation.

I'm going to try and make this. Sounds interesting. I've been having transportation and financial issues up until now. May be able to make it this time.

Thanks. Someone above defined it a bit more. Sounds quite interesting. I know fungi is involved in fermenting everything from cheese to fine wine. Important science.

Hi. Dumb question. What exactly IS "Mycology". I can tell it's the study of something form the -ology part, but what is the Myc part :)

For this workshop, we will be focusing on yeast fungi. While quite variable in its capabilities, several yeasts are responsible for the fermentation process which brings us the yummy beer, wine, and cheese that we all know and love :)

Thanks. I'm pretty familiar with the sciences … but I had not heard of that one before. The study of fungi. Okay. Learning cheese making would interest me but I very seldom get involved in drinking and it's not at all a part of my social life so that would simply be interesting but not that useful to me.
