I need to learn to translate every challenge encountered in the process of creating such a community into an asset for sustainability. I need to learn specifics well enough to direct a project and to articulate the concepts well enough to teach others.
Yes, but not a complete program. I attended off and on at the Eco-village Training Center at The Farm in Summertown, TN and in meetings with Sizwe Herring, a certified trainer of Permaculture from Earth Matters in Nashville. TN.
Yes and No. I am constantly alive to the concepts, but I do not own property so that makes the practice difficult. However, in our community garden we follow the spirit of Permaculture in general ways such as soil building and leaving some of the natural companions that some regard as weeds.
I'm the founder of A Growing Playce for Practice in Collaborative Community, a model for sustainable and intentional community that uses the principles of permaculture to create a housing settlement where people practice "the change" they envision.
It is lovely that the site is used to post almost every related activity in the city. Thanks for it! I intend to do follow up from this meeting but many are out of town now and some are preparing for the fall semester. September will bring another gathering. Please write with suggestions or offers for anything related.
