Fearless Homesteading July Session: cheese, butter, chickens and tractors!

  • Jul 28, 2013 · 9:30 AM
  • Kimberton Waldorf School Garden Building

"Mild and milky, smooth and silky:any way you stretch it, we love fresh mozzarella! In this hands-on class you’ll learn how to make it at home. After a basic demonstration describing how fresh milk turns from fluid to firm curds, we'll then turn curds into the beautiful balls that we know as fresh mozzarella. We’ll taste delicious samples of fresh pulled curd-style mozzarella to serve with heirloom tomatoes.

In addition, we'll make butter from scratch from local cream and add fresh herbs and garlic (while they are all in summer abundance!) and freeze for future use! Nothing like great homemade herb butters at the holidays."
AND ...

HOMESTEAD FARMING
MICRO-LIVESTOCK: Learn about keeping BACKYARD CHICKENS, specifically, all-purpose breeds and laying hens and all the wonderful benefits they provide the homestead!

We will also be discussing gardening/farming power equip. including a demonstration of a Walk-behind TRACTOR and the many attachments available for this handy piece of (manageable) power equipment -- with emphasis on the "10 Commandments of Tractor Safety".

I am unable to attend, but my father wants to attend. He's disabled however and cannot drive therefore my sister is bringing him and will be staying to assist him. Do they pay when they arrive?
