Re: [penn-permaculture] Got wood chips? Wood chips are needed (must be mostly hardwood) in S. Chester Co. ASAP for a mycoremediation project

You may be able to get some free wood chips from here:

At the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center (3870 Ford Rd.), Philadelphians can pick up free compost, mulch, wood chips and herbivore manure. There is no charge for small amounts of materials (up to a 30-gallon can), and those who want to obtain more than that can purchase it from the center. Screened Leaf Compost is made from leaves and herbivore manure—no sewage or sludge material are used.

We are still in need of ~ 12 - 15 yards of hardwood chips for the Mycoremediation workshop at The Land Conservancy for S. Chester Co.’s  New Leaf Eco Center (Kennet Square), this Friday.

The plan was to source them from the township but, as so many pine, spruce, etc were damaged this year, the township wood chip pile has too large a proportion of pine, etc.
The chips we need must be, predominantly, from hard woods (~ 80 % or more).

If you are local and have any chips you’d be willing to dump at the preserve (over the next few days) — OR, you know of a tree service in the area that may be looking to get rid of chips ASAP, please email or call the Land Manager for TLCforSCC:

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give!
