Permablitz! Help Create a Food Forest June 16th

  • Jun 16, 2013 · 3:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

On June 16th beginning at 3pm, let's come together as a community and help further the transition towards sustainability in Southwest Florida. Let us come together for our first Permablitz and help develop a Food Forest!

A Permablitz is when the community comes together to collectively engage in permaculture. It's like a barn raising, but permaculture style. We will be coming together on June 16th at our fellow Permies' Andrei's home with the following goals:

1. Dig a trench and install a water line from his well to where his Food Forest will begin.
2. Dig holes and plant a variety of fruit trees and supporting plants and trees.
3. Mulch the area surrounding the trees and sow it with nitrogen fixing ground cover.

In other words, we're going to help Andrei get his Food Forest started!

As a community, we can get a LOT done when we work together. Those who help with the Permablitz are then eligible to have a permablitz at their location! See all the rules here:

What to being:
A. Water and snacks. Some will be there but it's good to bring your own as well.
B. If you have a shovel, pick, and/or pitch fork, please bring it. Put your initials on your tools in case others have the same.
C. A wide brim hat and sun screen if you aren't used to the sun.
D. Gloves.
E. A wheel barrow if you can manage it.

That's it! Come help create a beginning Food Forest, learn a lot, and help transition our community towards sustainability. If you have any questions, you can ask here or on our community forum at

Starbo and I had a the best time. We were all smiles when we left. I loved being in the dirt around good people of like mind and watermelon in my belly. Thanks everyone for making this happen, for all the years of learning that lead up to helping us all and for all that showed up. Starbo and I will definitely be there to help at the next one.

I would like to thank everyone who came today to take part in the permablitz at my home. It was a blast. Yet another Food Forest in SouthWest Florida is now up and running. Right after everyone left, a rain shower came down on my newly born Food Forest as the confirmation of a good job we've all done. I'll be looking forward for future meetings at your locations as well.

Hi Jeanie, we'd love to have you for that hour if you're game though. Or if you want to show up a little early (2:30ish), we'll be staging stuff if you want to help with that.

    Hey guys,

Don't worry about snacks and such.
Just bring tools you think might be helpful as I don't have too many here.

Hi Verna, the address is here: -- are you able to see it? I don't want to post it here as it will then be public.
