Permablitz, Composting Workshop, and Potluck

Hi Permies!

We're excited to announce that our next Permablitz has been planned and is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th at 8am. We'll stop working at 12pm. For those who don't know what a Permablitz is, think of it as a modern day barn raising except the community comes together to build a Food Forest instead of a barn. And if you come, then your name gets entered into the, "Hat" for a future permablitz at your place. The specific guidelines of that can be found here: http://www.flpermies.com/showthread.php?t=502

This Permablitz will be at Patricia and Matt's house. We're especially excited by this Blitz because their lot is "just" .33 acres and it'll be nice to be able to showcase what is possible on smaller lots.

Our plan is to plant fruit trees and mulch with a break for a composting workshop. In addition, if you're able, please bring a small snack or dish for the group as we'll be having a small, informal potluck at 12:00. Organic is great. Organic and local is amazing.

For the Permablitz, please bring:

1. Wheelbarrows, shovels, and pitchforks if you have them.
2. Whatever supplies you usually use outside such as gloves, hat, insect repellant, etc.
3. If you took pigeon pea seeds at the last permablitz, please bring half of what you germinated if available.

We felt the work load at the last Permablitz was a little too much so we're striving to ensure that doesn't happen again.

Action is quite possibly the most important aspect of being a part of the Permaculture Guild. We hope to see you on the 26th to help transition Patricia and Matt towards sustainability.

Regards,

David Chapman, Rene Bordas, and Alex Nikesch

What a great day ! I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with like minded people. The weather was awesome, the teaching session was very informative, and the ability to stand back and see what was built when we were done, all made for a very uplifting experience. Encounters like this provide countless opportunities to network and exchange ideas. I really enjoyed the flow of information. It was good to see each of you and i can't WAIT until the next one !

    I wish you plenty,

    Steve

We had so much fun today and enjoyed the conversations, the laughs and working alongside all you wonderful people! Our new food forest looks great, thank you all for helping us. We could not have done this without you and are so appreciative of your time and effort. We look forward to seeing you all again at future Permablitz. We would also like to give a special thanks the organizers and the design team for their numerous visits, expert advice and for pulling this all together so seamlessly.

    Many heartfelt thanks,
    Matt and Patricia

I will not be able to make the Blitz tomorrow. I'm really bummed but I'm currently working in GTMO as a contractor and my trip got extended by a couple days. I'm really dissappointed but trust everything will go well. I had originally promised about 10 Cranberry Hibiscus plants but I will not be able to come through, the offer still stands and I will try to make other arrangements. I hope everyone has a great time and things go really well!

I've got room for one and some garden tools if anyone would like to carpool down there. I'm coming from Buckingham (exit 143), and wouldn't mind swinging through Lehigh, or having someone meet here or somewhere nearby.
