Our permaculture guild is made up of people interested in permaculture concepts ranging from sustainable food production to food forestry and more. You don't need any knowledge regarding or experience with permaculture, just a mind open to being a part of the solution and working to transition towards sustainability.
What is Permaculture?
While permaculture is a broad topic, for the purpose of this group, think of permaculture as creating edible gardens that mimic and work with nature in a sustainable manner. The core tenents of permaculture are:
Take care of the earth: Provision for all life systems to continue and multiply. This is the first principle, because without a healthy earth, humans cannot flourish.
Take care of the people: Provision for people to access those resources necessary for their existence.
Set limits to consumption and reproduction, and redistribute surplus:
Healthy natural systems use outputs from each element to nourish others. We humans can do the same. By governing our own needs, we can set resources aside to further the above principles.
The ultimate goal of this group is to help inspire others to practice permaculture in an effort to transition our society to a sustainable one.
