San Antonio Winery remains the last producing winery in LA after over 90 years of wine making and is an essential component of LA’s cultural and historical landscape. In fact, in the early 1960′s Los Angeles’ Cultural Heritage Board designated the winery Cultural Monument Number 42. Still in its original location on Lamar Street, the Winery is the last vestige of the rich wine-making tradition of the greater LA area.

We have been working with San Antonio for several weeks now to put this together, create a fun and unique experience and give it a touch of "Huell" in celebration of his spirit of adventure and appreciation of history.

For this exciting Huellventure, we have arranged for a special complimentary PRIVATE TOUR & TASTING of this historic winery with owner, Steve Riboli (pending availability) and Michael Papalia, Manager of the San Antonio Wine Store. Both knew Huell and were there during the original taping of their episode back in 1994!

After our private tour of the winery (approx. 30 minutes), we will then enjoy our own private, complimentary tasting of three (3) limited production artisan wines not normally included on the regular public tour! (additional tastings and glasses of wine will of course be available for purchase). Michael insured me that he is going to personally put together a wonderful tasting for our group so this should be terrific and unique opportunity!

Finally, we have made arrangements for RESERVED TABLES for our group to have lunch at their beautiful Maddalena Restaurant at 1:00 pm! It's a casual dining setting among century-old redwood aging casks (plan to budget $12-$20 for lunch). After lunch, you are invited to stop by their Wine Store and Gift Shop for a terrific selection of high quality wines from California, the US, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, New Zealand, Germany, Australia, and many more for purchase.

PLEASE RSVP by 9:00 am Friday, April 26 to join us on this exciting Huellventure (however, if you know you are for sure coming, kindly rsvp sooner than later - it would be wonderful to let San Antonio and the owner know well before the 26th that we have a nice size group coming for this special tour & tasting which they have graciously agreed to provide for us). Please let us know if you will be coming just for the tour & tasting or if you plan on joining us for lunch as well.  We have to let San Antonio know how many to expect for both the tour and lunch.  Thank you.

We certainly hope you will join us on this wonderful Huellventure to L.A's last remaining winery!  Thank you and see you then!

We had a terrific day today on our p.o.l "Huellventure" to the historic San Antonio Winery (just under 50 p.o.l's!). The owner, Steve Riboli, personally gave us our private tour and shared some wonderful memories of Huell Howser during the taping of their episode back in the 90's. Then Steve walked us over to their new tasting room where both Steve and Dominic Menton gave us an exclusive tasting of four different wines. Dominic also shared some great stories of Huell as he poured us tastings of Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet and a refreshing Stella Rosa. After the tasting, we made our way to Maddalena Restaurant for an absolutely delicious lunch in a private room reserved for our group. They even provided a complimentary antipasto platter for us! Thank you all for coming and a very special thanks to Steve Riboli, Dominic Menton and all of the staff of San Antonio winery who helped make this p.o.l Huellventure a special one! (Photos and videos will be posted shortly.)

Is it too late for me & my daughter Stephanie to RSVP?

    April 26, 2013

    • Rob & J.

Hi Rosie - we literally just had one cancellation so I can accommodate you and your daughter. We had to keep group to 50 max - didn't know we'd hit 50 which is why we originally didn't set a limit to the group. But for future please be sure to RSVP by set deadline. We already let San Antonio know our totals and it makes it easier for us and plus we don't/can't open up door to everyone who now wants to RSVP after deadline. I'm hope you understand :). Thank you and look forward to seeing you again on the 28th :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
