PERTH FRIENDS is about making new friends whilst engaging in a variety of social activities. We welcome anyone who wants to expand their social network, find friends with common interests or just want to get out of the house. This group is based on friendship and socialising.
Our Group Guidelines
PERTH FRIENDS has scheduled and hosted over 400 Meetups since inception in January 2012. We aim to ensure our group is welcoming and operates with integrity where good old fashioned values are at the core of our events.Being such an active group we charge a small $5 Membership fee to fund Meet Up fees,venue hire and bookings and other costs associated with running a busy group. This is due every February. To ensure we keep true to our direction as a group we have drafted some guidelines. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with them so collectively we can continue to make PERTH FRIENDS a great social group.
1) Your Profile
a.We are an easy group to join but Please ensure you have adequate information on your profile so we know something about you. We also require your first name and a CLEAR PHOTO OF YOU as it helps hosts to identify you when at an event. We do not accept pseudonyms, nicknames,or alias's.
2) Your RSVP
a. If you RSVP for an event please do so if you intend to go. If for whatever reason you can no longer make the event then ensure you update your RSVP on the website promptly. If it is a popular event and there is a waitlist or the host is reliant on the correct numbers due to reservation requirements then please update your RSVP with as much notice as possible. If you un RSVP an hour before a popular event with a waitlist it is usually not enough time for those on standby to be notified and then attend. Please keep this in mind and try to avoid situations where others miss out.
b. Be on time. Remember that our hosts (event coordinators) have volunteered to run an event. It takes time to research, plan, organise and communicate to members with questions etc leading up to the event so make sure you are on time to an event where time matters. Please use your judgment for the events your RSVP for to decide which ones require you to be on time and those that don’t. For example you will need to be on time for an event such as dinner, movie, rock climbing etc –where a social event at a pub or picnic is less relevant if you cannot show up at the exact scheduled time.
c. On occasion an event will be considered a ‘no show’ event where if you RSVP as attending and do not show it will be noted. The leadership team will discuss and review any ‘no shows’ and may cancel the membership as a result.
d. Please ensure you respect events that have a limit to numbers. Our good relationship with bars and clubs is largely based on respecting the venue managers. If a bar/club gives us a limit of 60 people please respect this and do not show up anyway as it is likely to impact our future events and the reputation of PERTH FRIENDS being great hosts.
e. We have introduced a once off membership fee of $5 due 1st February -28th February this contributes towards booking fees , Meet Up membership dues and any other costs associated with Perth Friends at the end of the year there will be a poll on what to do with excess funds - either to go to a charity or to be spent on the members at a function/functions.
3) Group Interaction
a. PERTH FRIENDS is about friendships and social gatherings for those over the age of 25. We are not a dating group and many members join with the understanding that they can safely interact without unwanted advances. Therefore any behavior that is considered harassment, bullying or unwanted sexual solicitation is unwelcome and the leadership team will cancel the membership of anyone who behaves in this fashion. As we are all adults please ensure you clearly communicate to any member who may be making you feel uncomfortable and give them an opportunity to change their behavior as they may not be aware of their impact.
a. Please refrain from promoting your business etc unless you choose to offer the group a ‘perk’. Please click on the button that says “offer a Perk” and follow the registration steps.
5) Scheduling and Hosting an Event
a. PERTH FRIENDS does not aim to make any money from scheduling events. If in the event there is excess money we will donate back into the group and/or donate to a charity.
b. Before the event, the host is responsible for organising, researching, booking, communicating and maintaining the event page. Please ensure you visit the page regularly after scheduling an event to keep on top of communications. Make sure you do your research so not to disappoint your guests. Check with the venue or business to ensure they can cope with the numbers.
c. During the event, the host is the primary point of contact and ensures all RSVP attendees are welcomed into the event. We want the host to be a true host and ‘own’ the event they have created. Remember it will be a first event for some so keep in mind how you felt coming to your very first meetup.
d. Fundraising. PERTH FRIENDS is happy to support a variety of Fundraising events. To manage the amount of Fundraisers we have please contact one of the leadership team with your proposal. Your proposal will be discussed with the leadership team. The decision will be based on a variety of reasons including the amount of proposed events the group receives. All fundraising events scheduled will be clearly communicated so all members are aware of additional funds and what is being supported and How much was raised at each event is to be posted on the Event Page.
