HoL: Azure VMs and HDInsight

We will conclude our Summer of Azure by processing, analyzing, and gaining new insights from big data using the power of Azure HDInsight, the big data solution powered by Apache Hadoop.

For those of you still interested in reading, a free eBook, Introducing Microsoft Azure HDInsight, was release back in May.

This is a Hands-On Lab so please come prepared to do some coding. You must bring a laptop. Don’t forget that power supply. We will help you get organized and install the right software for continued virtual fun! We have wireless Internet access so you can download on-site.  Pizza and refreshments will be served as usual.  Please RSVP by 12pm on Tuesday so we can get a head count for the pizza.

These Hands-On Labs will use a mix of web portal management and Visual Studio. VS 2012 or 2013 are recommended and you won’t need to install anything else to complete the labs. You will need a trial account for Azure. Browse to and look for Free Trial in the top right corner. You can also download the Windows Azure SDK for VS 2013 from×409
