Pittsburgh .NET User Group (PGHDOTNET) Message Board › Regular Meetings Discussions › ANN: The Global Day of Coderetreat - December 8th
I know a lot of local .NET developers have attended coderetreat's in the past, so I thought I'd pass this along to this group:
Registration is now open for the Global Day of Coderetreat in Pittsburgh!
We have great things planned for this year's Global Day. We have a lot of space and available tickets. If you were unable to register for a coderetreat in the past, this is your chance. It is going to be our best coderetreat of the year. You don't want to miss it!
Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven to be a fun and highly effective means of skill improvement.
About the Global Day of Coderetreat
For 32 hours on December 8th, Coderetreats will be held all over the world as part of the Global Day of Coderetreat. The Global Day of Coderetreat helps to raise awareness of Coderetreat and brings people together from all over the world. Most importantly, the Global Day of Coderetreat helps to support global efforts to find, encourage, and educate the next generation of software developers (through the Coderetreat Community Contribution Fund).
Last year, 94 cities participated. This year, we anticipate approximately 200 cities will participate with about 3,000 developers worldwide!
To celebrate this significant event, we will participate in some global activities in addition to our normal coderetreat activities. Afterwards, stick around and we'll all go out to dinner or for a few drinks. It is going to be a lot of fun!
You can register at:
We also have a super-cool flyer for the event which you can download here. Feel free to print it out, post it in approved locations at work, share it via email, etc.
You only need to bring a laptop with the development tools you require to write code using your chosen programming languages. Coffee and lunch will be provided.
Codretreats are free, however, we require a $15 refundable deposit. The deposit will be refunded in full when you attend the event. If you sign up and later discover you are unable to attend, please let us know (email@example.com) by Sunday, December 2nd, and we'll gladly refund your deposit. Any funds not refunded will be used to fund future local coderetreats.
This event is hosted by the Pittsburgh Technical Institute and sponsored by ModCloth.
If you have any problems registering, or have any other questions, feel free to drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we would be glad to help you.
See you on December 8th!
