DAMN MEETUP. PLEASE READ THE ONE BELOW FIRST
Really like doing this ride but it seems to me that for the third year in a row that attendance was down both in the amount of riders and also in the amount of spectators. Don't understand that. Seeing as how you could not get a better day. That said, credit where credit is due to the organizers and the Blue Comet's for the great job they did putting the entire event together and for eliminating some of the problems that popped up on the highway part of the ride the last 2 years. Though I have to admit. I missed riding under the huge flags they had in years past.
Again, thank you all who came out and next year we'll try for even more

I missed those flags too! I had my camera ready this year to take pics of it

    • Carolyn

Have to say flags were missed but the blocking was much better as you pointed out

Pat, thanks for the great organization on this ride. I too was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a better turnout by the community and the lack of the giant flags hanging from the fire truck ladders. Still a great time!

    June 3, 2014

    • Ron M.

Didn't realize more people missed that GIANT flag as much as I did. At the Ceremony I mentioned asked the 'head guy' about

      June 4, 2014

    • Ron M.

I commented about it to the 'head man'; he assured me that NEXT YEAR it WOULD be there !!

A Great Cause. A Perfect Day for riding. But the best thing about yesterday's ride was the people who showed up at the Bakery to take part in it. Hopefully you all know who you are because the good news is that there where way too many of you for my feeble little brain to remember all of the names. So I would like to extend a most grateful THANK YOU to everyone who was there. Very nice to meet all of the first timers (I promise to get better with the names when we meet again) and just as nice to see all of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th whatever timers.
Special Props to "Damn the Torpedoes, Full Steam Ahead" Dave for getting the first group to the High School for me

    Sharon,
Hello neighbor . . . I live a few minutes from the exit right next to you - 'Ft. Washington'. Although I go the 'back way' in about half the time.

    May 11, 2014

    • Ron M.

Sharon, . . . YES and YES. I was trying to arrange a 'practice' meeting place for US. It takes about an hour to get there and I usually run late {idiot !!}. So I'd like to live about 8 AM. I was thinking about McGerks as a place to meet because it's a promenent landmark AND on Rt. 73 which is the first 'leg' we'll travel.

Hi I am a new/beginner rider but am possibly interested in doing this ride. I have never rode in a group. What is the distance of this ride, is there any highway, and are beginners welcomed?

    May 31, 2014

    • SportyChk

Thanks for the Jay for the info'

      May 31, 2014

    • Lynda S

The ride from our meetup to the start will be fine for a beginner. Just remember, the actual 'ride' is usually with hundreds of experienced riders. You must be able to keep in formation and hold your own. They close the streets down and there's usually giant flags down Main Street. It's a blast!

This is going to be a very, very short ride, No?

    May 13, 2014

    • Pat

Mike, The Ride for Freedom itself is about 45 minutes to an hour long. Goes thru Norristown then Conshohocken before heading back to Valley Forge area where it ends. Our ride from the Bakery to Norristown HS where the Freedom Ride begins should only take about 15 minutes or so

      May 13, 2014

      Thanks, Pat.
