In our continuous effort to strengthen and expand the Philly innovation community, we are launching a new program called "Fireside Chats". Fireside Chats will be an ongoing series of enlightening discussions, debates and presentations about entrepreneurship, startups, tech, and venture capital from the foremost thinkers in the industry. Our goal is to educate and inspire, while you continue to imagine and invent. We welcome our new partner in this endeavor, the Wharton Small Business Development Center.

Produced by Philly Tech Meetup and Wharton SBDC.
Hosted at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

NEW MONEY. NEW INVESTMENT MODELS. NEW RULES.
A NEW VC PARADIGM?

We invite you to participate in a discussion about:

• the state of venture capital today,
• why VCs are underperforming the public market,
• are we in a tech startup and vc bubble,

• how new investment programs are transforming investing,
• the big shift from investors being bankers to operators,
• where the most exciting disruption is happening,
• how to increase your chances of getting funded,
• and much, much more.

Overall great. It got a little off agenda for a while, but ended strong. Unbelievable panel.

It wasn't quite what I expected. I think that a panel of three would have been better and if the topic direction was less academically oriented. It was a thoughtful and philosophical approach but I wanted to hear a stronger discussion about "street-wise" VC/funding issues that was focused on the entrpreneur. I admit that I may be somewhat jaded. I really did appreciate the effort, travel and investment time the panelist contributed.

It was unclear how the discussion relaed to the audience. Advice to Mark Zuckerberg took up a substantial portion of the conversation and was irrelevant to early stage entrepreneurs. The host from the government side was asked mainly irrelevant private aide questions which prevented her from sharing interesting information about government funding.
