Pennsylvania boasts of a number of quality outdoor climbing locations all varying in location, scenery, rock quality and texture.

Our sponsor Valley to Summit is offering a 30% discount off this trip.  The price listed above is already at the 30% discounted price.  You may bring up to 2 friends who are not members of this Meetup group at the same price.  A RSVP does not reserve your spot.  Please read below for booking and payment instructions to reserve your spot.

We spend the day in a beautiful gorge along a horseshoe bend in the Tohickon Creek in the High Rocks section of Ralph Stover State Park located in Bucks County, PA. The main attraction is a 200 ft rock face that offers great views of Tohickon Creek and the surrounding forest and over 60 climbing routes of all levels and varying height. Our certified guides will teach the basics of rock climbing and help you improve your top-roping skills and techniques. The goal is to facilitate fun, informative, inspirational and recreational outdoor rock climbing experiences.

You will learn the basics of outdoor rock climbing. Throughout the day, you will be guided by an on-site Single Pitch Instructor certified by the American Mountain Guides Association and other guides with strong climbing backgrounds. The intro to outdoor rock climbing trip is designed for first time climbers and for those who would like to transition from indoor gym climbing to the great outdoors.

On-site certified rock guide

The guides will review:

Climbing Gear
Body Movement
Communication Calls
Foot Positioning: Smears, Edging
Use of Hand Holds: Edges, Slopers, Buckets, Pockets
Climbing Ethics

You will have ample opportunity to put to practice your newly acquired skills as you top-rope climb (aka single pith climbing) cliffs of various heights on a multitude of routes with unique rock types and features. Top rope climbing is where the guides and belayer stay on the ground while the climber climbs the cliff and then is lowered back to the ground.
