'Art After 5' at Phil. Art Museum Friday Aug 30 5PM (Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble)

Art After 5 .  Free after admission.  Friday evenings take on a whole new groove with Art After 5, a unique blend of entertainment from 5:00–8:45 p.m.**.

With an eclectic mix of international music on the first Friday of each month, and recognized and emerging jazz artists performing all other Fridays, it’s a stylish way to start your weekend. The Great Stair Hall is transformed into an intimate cabaret for Art After 5 performances. Starr Events serves up fun, sharable snacks and light supper options, as well as cocktails, wine and beer to compliment the live entertainment. Relax at a table with waiter service or stop by the bar.

Admission to the museum is $20 for adults, $18 for Seniors (65 & over). "This covers access for two consecutive days to main Museum building, Perelman Building, Rodin Museum, and Historic House Mount Pleasant." So, you could come tonight and then come back on Saturday and not pay extra for Saturday.

Led by upright bass player Warren Oree, the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble includes Umar Raheem (tenor and soprano saxophone), Greg “Ju-Ju” Jones (drums), Doug “Pablow” Edwards (congas and percussion), and Frank Butrey (guitar).

Listen to Warren Oree sing "Black Cherry". Love this song from their 'Man Bites Dog' CD. Bought the CD for $10.

Traffic is gridlocked. Hard getting to museum; hopefully will be there for 2nd set!

Sorry, I don't normally bail, but the "meet" part of this event seems tentative based on the messages. I really look forward to trying this again.

I will be there between 4 and 4:30 also, so I hope I can find you at a front table. Don't you have a cell phone? I can give you my cellphone number if that helps. Let me know. I will have it on all day at home if you need to contact someone.

Can someone else who has a smart phone (I do not) volunteer their cell so that the rest of you who may come later or staggered times, can find each other.

All, this is a difficult event for groups, I've found, particularly since one can not save seats at tables. I will be there between 4pm and 4:30pm to grab a front row table. I will try to save 3 seats at my table for those who can get there by 5pm. Oh, and only join me if you love jazz and want to listen - no talking during the set please. Will turn off my cell at 5pm. Please let me know in advance if you want me to try to save you a seat, otherwise try to find the others.

I am coming and hope I find the group so I can meet everyone. I assume you will give us your number so we find each other. Looking
    forward to it. Rose

Bonnie, would be great if you and others would volunteer to be the host so that we cover all the Fridays, but I can not be there every Friday. Just let me know, and I will make you an Event Host - very easy - just tell people where to meet you, how to find you, preferably give out your cell phone number. Darlene

I go to Art after 5 on a regular basis. Though I can't make it this week, perhaps we could make this a regular event. The music is always good, the atmosphere relaxed and fun, and good food and drink from Stephen Starr. Bonnie
