Happy Hour/outdoor film screening documentary of The Barnes Collection

  • September 7, 2012 · 5:30 PM

Join us for this fun and educational event outing together!

I've had the pleasure of attending the new location of The Barnes Foundation for a pre-opening invite in May - and just loved it all...

So, to acquaint you more on this, the following event has been offered.

Perhaps this will motivate you to attend the new location - and possibly be a future event outing with the group together.....

Happy Hour for meet and greet TBD will be in Society Hill from 5:30pm-7pm

Then head over to the screening at 7pm at the latest.

More details to follow - so, save the date and times to attend this!

About the Film

WHYY's special 60-minute TV documentary for the new PBS Arts Summer Festival series, The Barnes Collection, tells the story of Dr. Albert C. Barnes and his priceless art collection, considered among the world's greatest, and details the design and construction of the new Barnes Foundation building in Center City Philadelphia.

Established in 1922 as an educational institution, the Barnes Foundation's art collection houses more Cezannes than all the museums in Paris and features the world's largest collection of works by Renoir. The 3,000-plus-piece collection is regarded as the greatest collection of Post-Impressionist and early modern art, and contains American and African art and sculpture. Kimberley and Bev, by 5pm your host, Elizabeth Ann, was at the Happy Hour trying to save seats and with cell phone in hand trying to hear a phone in a loud bar. Please RSVP earlier next time. Remember, your hosts to not get paid and this is a lot of work, so members need to do their part, sign up early, answer all questions, and show up. We do hope to see you again at another event. Darlene, I was at the Barnes (green dress, matching scarf) on Friday. When I arrived I asked receptionists, security guards, ushers, and finally bartenders where I might find this meet up. No one I asked had received any communication concerning this event and despite my early RSVP I received no email concerning this event. What I did receive was a public scolding. Please be assured that you no longer need concern yourself with my attendance at your meetups.

Darlene, I found my notice in my old mailbox in AOL, so it was my oversight. I look forward to meeting everyone at the next meetup that I attend Thank you for all that you do.

What an enjoyable evening - good company at HH, sitting on the waterfront watching the film. Will be planning a visit to The Barns.
