While doing some scouting, I came across Carmine's Creole Act Two by happenstance and from the moment I walked in, I felt like it was my lucky day.  That feeling was later confirmed when I did some more reading about the restaurant and discovered its excellent reputation and more about Owner and Chef John Mims.  Even though he was prepping for a busy Saturday night, he graciously took the time to chat with me and discuss menu options.  That being said, the menu we decided upon is below.

This is a BYOB with a Pre-Fixe menu as listed below.  It is neighborhood street parking, so I suggest getting there a little early to allow yourself time to find parking.  Dress is smart casual and up.  Click here, Carmine's Act Two to read more about the restaurant and here, Yelp Reviews and here, More Reviews, if you are interested in what other people wrote.

This was the best dinner I've had yet this year and it could be one of the best pre-fixe menus we've been offered. I think John Mims lives and cooks up to his reputation. The black bean soup was the best I've ever spooned onto my taste buds. Rich flavor with a hearty but not overwhelming consistency. The second course offered a perfect dance combination of fresh fish and crab stepping in tune to the paella. The dry aged filet mignon was tender and full of flavor that brought out the lobster stuffed into it and the key lime pie finished off the dinner with a delicious flourish.

The company and conversation was lively and interesting as always. Andy showing up at the last minute was a pleasant surprise we all enjoyed. Welcome to new members Vanaja and Geoff. Thanks to all who came out and shared this meal and their evening. Carmine's Creole is at the top of my list for a repeat performance.

Darn, now I feel even worse I missed the dinner. Thanks a whole lot! ;) It sounds like it was a fantastic event, and I really know how to pick the ones to miss, huh? Kudos, and hoping I will have a second chance.

Hey, Chris, I am so sorry for bowing out at zero hour. Wasn't feeling well all day, and was hoping against hope I'd be up to driving there. But started on my way and felt dizzy, so had to come back home. Major apologies! Really hope this doesn't cause you problems with the restaurant.

Believe it or not, I am still unable to view the prix fixe menu. Very strange. Went off the Meetup app and tried to view it on the plain ol ' Internet. Weird. I'm sure it's quite good, so no need to email it. Is it $30 something, I think?

I'm finding out that Chef Mims has quite a loyal following. I may join that crowd if this dinner goes well!

Diners, please note that I've sent out an e-mail asking you to Confirm by Tuesday if you plan on attending this dinner. This will help the restaurant better manage their seating as they normally do not take reservations. Thank you.

Do we each bring some wine or should a couple people pick out some wine and we can reimburse? I am new to this, so just asking.

Vanaja, most people bring their own wine. However, you can contact others to see if they would like to share a bottle. The cost would be between you and your wine sharers.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
