The Philly Climbing Meetup group is an online resource to help you get out and climb with compatible people.

It mostly hosts indoor climbing events at gyms out of convenience - since organizing large scale outdoor events can be a tough undertaking.

That said, many of us have founds friends to climb with in whatever our preferred venue and style is, up to long-distance mountaineering trips.

The forums are a good place to look for climbing partners or plan your own events, if you don't see the sort of thing what you want to do on the calendar.

If you like to take initiative, we welcome you to suggest an event, or post one for yourself. We're working to expand the capabilities of all members on the Meetup. If you try to post and event and don't have enough rights to do it, ask an organizer to be granted an "event organizer" role. 

The Meetup is always looking for more organizers to help keep things fresh here.

2. Rock climbing is an inherantly dangerous sport. Any consequences as a result of a fall or accident are an accepted risk to the climber, belayer and all other parties involved. If you get hurt during an event posted on this website, it is entirely your responsibility. You are not permitted to blame anyone else. BY JOINING THIS GROUP YOU ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR SAFETY, HEALTH, AND WELL-BEING WITH NO EXCEPTIONS.

All that being said, this group is an excellent chance to try out an incredibly rewarding sport! This group encourages folks of all abilities to join and try new things. Beginners are welcome on most events, and if events are not beginner appropriate, the description will say so.

We do not organize unguided outdoor climbs for liability reasons. We don't have our own insurance or equipment to take a group out on our own. All outdoor trips are led by guides. Indoor climbs, however, are a great way to just get out and climb!
