Conversation Meetup – Le Pain Quotidien

  • Nov 16, 2013 · 3:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for some lively French conversation at Le Pain Quotidien, a cafe in center city Philadelphia.  Please note that this is the location near Broad Street.

When you arrive, please seat yourself at the long table in the alcove across from the registers. A server will arrive to take your order. Please note that to attend this meet up, you have to order something from the cafe (even if it's just a coffee). Please also be sure to to tip your server.

A note about RSVPs: while we are generally not strict about requiring people to RSVP, because this cafe has table service, it helps us and the cafe staff to know how many people will be arriving.

Please note that although we welcome people of many different levels of French proficiency, we do conduct our meetups exclusively in French, so please come prepared to hold a basic conversation.

If you need to reach the group organizers, please do not call Le Pain Quotidien. You may contact the organizers through this site or through their direct contact info.

A bientôt!

**NB: People do tend to arrive a few minutes after 3pm and not at 3 on the dot.

By the way, she's still incorrect: it's Je m'oublie! and I've never heard a french person use it in the reflexive. Do you want Americans to sound like Americans speaking French or would you rather have them speak as the French speak their language? I prefer the latter as I'm always assumed to be french from the Midi when I go to France, which is frequently enough for extended stays. But, it IS your group and YOUR rules, so I'll follow them. I just hope you're not a french teacher today because the way they try to teach the languages today is wholly insufficient. I subbed for 2 days a French junior high class & the class applauded & told me they'd learned more from me in 2 days than they had from their teacher in 3 MONTHS! No more e-mails from me. Jean

Sorry, Judy, the above was supposed to be a reply to Anju, but it somehow ended up going to you. I don't know how to, but if you do, would you mind terribly passing it on to her? Thank you and I hope to get the chance to meet you in person. I actually do get along/play well with others. :-)

Je viens d'apprendre un peu d'argot nouveau grace a la chaine France24 - "retrouver la banane" = British: find your form again; American: back in business, get one's groove back. C'est chuette (sp?), n'est-ce pas? Jeanne ("Gini")
