Tell us about how, when, and why you first started to learn French.

I began to learn French in elementary school, continued through middle school and high school, but somehow never did very well with conversation or retention. I assume that is because, outside of the class itself, I had no one with whom to practice. I wanted to study more French at university, but had little opportunity. I love the French culture, their politics, and think the language is beautiful. So, I am trying this summer to begin a more aggressive program of French language and conversation.

I'm a writer and playwright. I embarrassed myself on a trip to Paris a short while ago, and have determined to refresh and strengthen my French speaking skills. I hope that a rusty French speaker will be welcome!
