Chamounix Plateau mellow hike

If you are driving to meet us, please read all the way thru this description for an alternate location to meet us at.

The plan for this hike roughly resembles a figure "8" (or the infinity symbol if you prefer), with our center point being the trailheads at Ford Road and Chamounix Drive, a 15-minute walk down the hill from our meetup point at the #38 bus shelter at Ford & Cranston Roads. It is a difficulty level of 2 or 3 on a scale of 1-10, 1 being easiest, and involves a bit less than 2 hours of walking (or a bit more if we're feeling adventurous). There is a modest amount of on-street parking at Ford & Cranston. (****Don't* park in the lots, or you'll be towed.***) If you are coming by public transit, you can catch the #38 going (north)west from Center City (trains or EL), or south(east) from the Wissahickon Transfer Center. (Please goto [][/url] to get familiar with travel details. We will spend 45 minutes or so exploring the trails south(west) as far a Ridgeland Mansion, and a similar amount of time exploring north(east) to Chamounix Mansion. About 70% of our time will be on dirt trails in the woods. There are moderate changes in elevation (less than the Wissahickon). The elevated asphalt recreational trail paralleling Chamounix Drive will also be part of our hike. There is a stripmall (including Asian takeout and "Chris's Pizza") across the street from our meetup point. This is a fairly mellow hike, and there are 2 or 3 chances to leave early, including catching the #38 bus on Conshohocken Road.

and the time before that:
location link should be Ford Road & Cranston Road.

If you are driving, you  can park in the lot near the beginning of Chamounix Drive (just off Belmont Mansion Drive) and meet us around 1:15pm, directly ***across the street*** from 4100 Chamounix Drive (aka Ridgeland Mansion):,4100+Chamounix+Dr,+Philadelphia,+PA+19131&gl=us&ei=9b-cUo3uLtPRkQfd8YC4AQ&ved=0CCsQ8gEwAA

I really hope to make it this time. Hope the weather is ok. If it is really raining a lot I will not be attending.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
