Swarthmore/ Scott Arboretum/ Crum Creek

Although Bill Stein will probably be unable to join us for this hike (I am hoping he will be able to meet us afterwards), I am reprising the hike he introduced to the group over a year ago. Dena Solomon & I had a chance to familiarize ourselves with the campus and adjoining trails today, and there really is no boring way to go: the campus is beautiful, the town and woods only slightly less so. We will spend between 2 and 4 hours walking, depending on group consensus. We will meet at Swarthmore Station, then walk across Swarthmore College campus, through the adjacent Scott Arboretum to Crum Creek, then back along the creek and through town to the Station. Everyone's welcome to join us for lunch after the hike, venue depends on who's coming. The web site for the arboretum is here:
http://www.scottarbor... The college website is here:
http://www.swarthmore... The R3 (Media/Elwyn) train runs to Swarthmore, and is scheduled to arrive at 11:38AM. (Check the Regional Rail info at ) The return trains leave at 15 minutes after the hour, until 10:15PM. The campus is adjacent to the train station.

Amazing venue. Always wanted to see the campus, but didn't want to get lost. Thanks for letting me tag along.

Thank You all for coming. I plan on doing this again in the Spring (when the flowers are out). I apologize for the excessive "hang time", and will be better prepared in that regard next time around. Thanks again!

I live near there, so I am already familiar with the campus and trails. I think it's a nice place for a hike.

I had a nice time hiking around Crum Creek and seeing areas that were new to me with a group of very nice people.

I hope to go on at least part of the Swarthmore hike tomorrow. This is a little off topic, but just in case anyone is interested, there is a **FREE** concert by Orchestra 2001 at Swarthmore's Lang Hall at 3:00 tomorrow. Hike and a concert (casual, come as you are attire is fine) -- sounds like a great Sunday!
