Amble thru "The Lakes": Roosevelt Park; Swedish Museum/South Philly Taproom

This is a mellow hike, more of an amble, really. The plan is to spend an hour or so exploring "The Lakes", as Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park is known to the locals.  We may extend our walk to explore the hiking trails below the tennis courts.  Optional afterwards activities include the American Swedish Historical Museum (located in the park: open noon-4, admission for adults is $6. more info at americanswedishmuseum, and The South Philadelphia Tap Room, located at 1509 Mifflin Street  (serving brunch till 3pm), about a 15-minute walk from the park.

You will probably appreciate having waterproof boots or shoes for this one, although there is *usually* a way around the wet spots. The "separate" hiking trails (down by the tennis courts) have not been maintained over the winter, but there is a dirt/"woods" trail that is passable most of the way around the first lake we come to...

I am so glad we are going to the Tap Room. The food is so good and there are vegetarian options. I've been wanting to go back for a long time. Sounds like a great combination of things to do on a Sunday. Darlene

It's definitely more than 15 minutes walk to SPTR: closer to 35 or 40 minutes. Carpooling is likely also an option, although I will probably have my bike with me.

I may bring along my certified therapy dog; she's very calm; we volunteer at CHOP. If I can't make it - or if it's still really cold on Sunday, I'll change my RSVP.
