Philly PHP April Meetup : Testing in PHP

This month we'll have two presentations and a discussion around the topic of Testing in PHP. We'll start with an overview of the concepts behind test driven development, and then examine SimpleTest, a popular PHP testing framework, in detail. For PHP developers exploring testing, SimpleTest is a great place to get started. For Drupal developers who want to write modules for Drupal 7, adding SimpleTest tests will be an important part of contributed modules.
Our speakers for the evening will be Raymond Bokenkamp, Senior Programmer Analyst with the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Owen Winkler with Rock River Star, a Philadelphia-area web development shop specializing in PHP and Drupal development.
We're being hosted by the Drexel Math and Computer Science Society so this will be a great opportunity for working-class PHP developers, hobbyists, and students to mingle and share stories and experiences.

Jon LustigOwen's presentation was coherent and interesting, it involved the attendees and had practical examples. The first presenter, by contrast and who was not clearly introduced, spoke vaguely about testing and why it is necessary. Since everyone was there to learn more about testing, I thought this case was clear to them already.

So Jody told me about this group (I've been looking for a local Drupal group for a while now). I told her we have this large space on 8th & Chestnut where meetings could potentially happen. We have wifi, and large open spaces for events like this. The space focused on collaboration in art - though more artists & groups we work with depend on php for their projects, and collaborate with developers. If anyone's interested in visiting or possibly holding these meetings at Basekamp, let me know! :)
