This month we will be meeting at 50 on Red / Leadnomics for PhillyPUG's first ever Movie Night! There will be food, non-alcoholic drinks, and beer provided by our sponsor company 50 on Red / Leadnomics. Big thanks to them for providing the space and fuel.
From a technical perspective, we will be viewing (up to) two talks from PyCon 2013. Here is the agenda:
6:30 - 7:00: Food, networking, and a word from our sponsor
7:00 - 8:00: Viewing of Guido Van Rossum's Keynote: Async in Python3 (Tulip)
8:00 - 9:00: Viewing of "Numba: A Dynamic Python Compiler for Science" by Travis Oliphant
9:00: Leave for the bar.
The plan is to watch the movies and have an open discussion among our group regarding their content. You should feel free to ask questions throughout, we will pause the movie as necessary. If we can only get through one movie because our discussion is going well, then that is fine, we will watch only one. Additionally, if we get through both movies but there is not enough time to discuss the second, that discussion can be continued at the bar after the meeting. If the group as a whole would prefer that we switch the order of the selected movies, we can do that too.
A few logistics: Please RSVP as soon as you can. The Cira Center requires a log of everyone who plans to attend ahead of time. That being said, RSVPs will close the day prior to the event at 12PM (noon). Please use the Meetup RSVP feature and provide your RSVP prior to then. Do not email me after the fact to add you to the list. You have plenty of time to decide whether or not you can attend. If you are not RSVP'd through the meetup site, you will not be allowed in. Additionally, make sure your Meetup profile that you use to RSVP to PhillyPUG meetings uses your real name as shown on your ID. If you RSVP as "Python Dude" that better be on your state issued license or you will not be let in.
See you all next week.
