PhillyPUG November 2013 Meetup - Python for Poker Strategies

Hi All,

Our November meeting will take place on Tuesday 11/12 at Monetate (sorry for the short notice). Here is our agenda:

6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Social, networking, and word from our sponsor, Monetate

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM: Python for Poker Strategies by Bill Chen

8:00 PM - 8:30 PM: Lightning Talks

8:30 PM: Leave for bar

Python for Poker Strategies

In this talk, Bill will begin with some python modules and tools and ideas you may need for implementing poker strategies and simulations.  Then he will talk about GTO (game theory optimal) play and algorithms of how to generate GTO strategies in poker, pointers to some papers.  Bill also feels Python is a great tool for prototyping solutions to toy games even when you may want to implement the real game solution in a compiled language like C, C++.

Bill Chen is a quantitative analyst at SIG, poker player, book author, and software designer.  You can read more about Bill on his Wikipedia page:

I hope to see you all next week. Big thanks to Monetate and Bill.

Been using Python/Django for a year. Love it! May never go back to Java. Looking for 2 additional Python consultants to join my team. Work from home. Meet weekly in Radnor. Interested? See you at the meeting and for drinks afterwards. --Fred Stluka [masked]
