This Saturday from 12 to 5 at the Springside School in Chestnut Hill, we're going to be holding an event to get young women thinking about the issue of gender disparity in elected public life in the US, and ideas that they have for app-based solutions. We need technologists to help out with leading the girls through app design exercises, and it would be great if some of you would participate.
The young women are not technologists themselves (though many are part of STEM programs in their high schools) and would love to connect with designers and developers to share ideas, ask for feedback, and perhaps even decide to build an app together.
For the event on the 5th, we are inviting a group of girls to share their thoughts and ideas for designing these apps with technologists, and creating the space to offer them feedback, questions, and an idea of what it would take to make the ideas a reality. It's a design challenge, with the hope that some participants may decide to work together on a project team for the White House Equal Futures Design Challenge (see attached).
If you can participate, lemme know. Thanks, and happy new year!
