Next meet early January: Scientism

From: Paul M. P.

Hi everyone,

Given the usual pace of our meets, a month-plus break cannot go without explanation.  We'll take December off, but mid-month a meet for early January will be posted. The topic will be "scientism".  Can science be taken too far intellectually, culturally, and/or politically? Is natural science the tribunal of all human knowledge, or simply one kind of knowledge among others?  It's a growing point of contention within philosophy, and a fascinating topic.

For those who don't mind philosophical topics related to fiction, my new philosophy of fiction group will be meeting 12/11 to discuss the distinction be story and narrative.

Happy Holidays,
