Speaking of Consciousness

From: Bill M.
Sent on: Thursday, January 10, 2013 7:07 PM

The Saturday morning group is studying Philosophy of Mind, a topic fraught with ambiguity. People use terms such as "mind," "consciousness," "awareness," "experience" and so forth as if everyone knows what they mean.  But people use these words differently.  As promised last Saturday, I have posted a new entry, "Speaking of Consciousness," on my philosophy blog, In this one I recommend some ways of using the terms.  If we all agree on the usage we'll have a productive conversation rather than talking past each other.  (Or, if we don't agree, we can have interesting conversation about our disagreements.)
