Do you have any pet philosophical issues? (Examples: feminism, free will vs. determinism, mind/body dualism, existence of God)?

philosophy of science, the "hard question" of consciousness, minds & brains, ethics & evolution, you know the usual stuff!

Who is your favorite philosopher?

David Hume. His deep insights into knowledge, causation, induction and the rest continue to challenge and taunt us! I'm ploughing through some of the Dennett output - Darwin's Dangerous Idea was smething of a classic I think.

Do you have an academic philosophy degree and if so, from which school?

B.A. in Philosophy from Swansea University (South Wales, near England). (Name drop: Rush Rhees had just retired when I got there. Not surprisingly, then, it was/is steeped in Wittgenstein).

Been an amateur philosopher since that introductory college course 30+ years ago! Still wondering what science is, whether it will find out what consciousness is, and what evolutionary biology might tell us about ethics. Look forward to mtg everyone
