Creating an Integrated Social Media Strategy

To be successful using social media, organizations and social change initiatives must have clearly articulated goals and an integrated digital strategy that includes a variety of tools and methodologies beyond simply "Post it and they will come. Love me. Volunteer. Donate. Advocate."

On the evening of Tuesday, March 5, 2013, Philly Net Tuesday will address this strategic challenge. Doors open at 6:00 PM at the Friends Center, 1501 Cherry Street. (Can’t make it downtown? Watch the live Internet stream at and share your questions or comments via the Twitter hashtag #phlnet2.)

We’re planning an interactive event, featuring social media strategist Don Lafferty of Mingl Social, with knowledge he's gained planning and executing hundreds of social media initiatives. Leveraging Don’s expertise, as well as experience and perspectives from fellow attendees, we’ll help identify the communities and tools that will help us achieve our organization's objectives. We’ll learn what's possible, how to create a strategy, and how to assign a budget to our activities, even if we don't yet have an articulated strategy.

Who should attend this event?

Nonprofit professionals and activists who feel the need to create a more coherent, integrated and effective social media strategy.
Techies who want to learn how to better relate to the strategic social media needs of nonprofits and social change agents.
Anyone who wants to understand social media initiatives from a more strategic perspective.

This event promises to be fun and informative, with practical tips, tools and strategic insights that we can apply to our own situations right away. Lite fare will be provided.

RSVP’s are appreciated for planning purposes, though not required.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks to the American Friends Service Committee for sponsorship.

It was interactive and social, which I liked, but I didn't learn much that I didn't already know. Perhaps this Net Tuesday wasn't meant for me...

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
