Net Tuesday, August 2: Google Plus: Reminder, update and request

Well, the response to this topic has been overwhelming!  On Facebook, we’ve had 53 Yes (+ 17 Maybe) RSVP’s, plus another 13 on Meetup.  And we’re expecting higher than average participation online.  Clearly, there’s a lot of interest in Google+ and what it may (or may not) accomplish.  We’ve also added some additional interesting readings on our website.

As you all know, G+ is still so new that nobody can claim more than a month’s experience with it.  So, we are planning an event for people to share that limited experience, along with their deeper perspectives of the nonprofit world, social change and the social web.

And since we’re expecting such a large turnout, we’d like to ask for some help…

  • If you’ve gotten comfortable with G+ over the last month and want to help with some of the demonstration or presentation, we’d love to hear from you.
  • We’d like to identify one or two people to actively engage with the Twitter backchannel, and be able to present remote comments and questions back into the room.
  • We can use a couple of people to act is informal greeters or ushers.

If you may be able to help with any of these, or if there are any other ways in which you’d like to participate, please let us know at [address removed].

With such a large crowd of interested people, the evening promises to be full of insightful tips and strategies.  Thanks to our sponsors for the evening, the American Friends Service Committee and Chevy Volt.

Until Tuesday…

Seth
