Important updates for Philly Net Tuesdays

I've been trying to minimize the emails going out to the entire Meetup group, so I've consolidated some important items in this email:

  • For those who couldn't make it we had a great Net Tuesday meeting on June 3. We had two presentations: one from Larry Miller on a project management process called Extensible Meeting and Process Management and one from Ivan Booth and myself on some of the most exciting applications we saw at the 3rd annual NetSquared Conference which we attended the week before in San Jose, CA. People really seemed to enjoy both presentations and there was a lot of buzz throughout the night.
  • We now have videos and/or slideshow from both presentations from our most recent Net Tuesday on June 3, as well as from both presentations from our first Net Tuesday on May 6. These can be found on a special page of the Philly NetSquared blog.
  • The idea came up at the June 3 meeting to experiment with a format that has worked very well at other Net Tuesdays. It involves having a local nonprofit go in front of the group and describe their current website and social software strategies and challenges. And then the rest of the group can offer advice, ideas, leads, etc. This has proven to be effective not only for the "focus" person, but for other participants as well. We're still working out the details of how we would like to handle it for Philly Net Tuesdays, but we're going to give it a try for our July 1 meeting. If you would like to consider (or find out more about) being the non-profit "on the hot seat" (we'll be gentle, honest), please let me know. It should be a lot of fun. Please RSVP if you're thinking of coming (or come anyway).
  • If you have not already done so, please consider joining our Google Group (listserv). It gives us an opportunity to network, ask/answer questions and announce exciting new developments to the rest of the group (and without having to wait to the next Net Tuesday. You can go to this page to join the group.

That's it for now. Any quesions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best,

Seth Horwitz
