Social Web Sampler November 13 -- Reminder and an Invitation

Hi.  This is a reminder that the next Net Tuesday, featuring our “Social Web Sampler” will be in TWO weeks, November 13 (not our typical first Tuesday, because of the election).   Doors will open at 6:00 PM at the Friends Center, 1501 Cherry Street.

Those who have attended the Social Web Sampler before know that it is a fun and fast-paced event, with 12-15 twenty-minute small group discussions on a wide range of social networking or social media topics.  How wide a range?  That’s up to you.  Because YOU decide the topics for discussion.  It’s a mini-unconference.

Past topics have included Wordpress… public media… blogging… faith-based social media… virtual worlds… wikis… podcasting… QR codes… online reputation… legal issues… Flickr… Timebanking… mobile UX… Facebook… analytics and much more!  (You get the idea.)

Have a tool, service, feature, practice, angle or idea you’d like to discuss with others?  Then fill in this form: http://tinyurl.com/SocialWebSampler.   You DON’T have to be an expert on the subject – just willing to help facilitate a 20-minute, small-group discussion.  (Although, being an expert is just fine, too.)  Why offer to lead a discussion group?  Lots of reasons, including:

  • Consultants or experts can help others learn more about a technology about which they have special knowledge.
  • Someone intrigued by a new tool or topic can learn more by discussing it with others who are also interested.
  • Get valuable feedback on a new idea, or try out a topic you might like to present in the future in a wider format.
  • Just because it’s fun!

Don’t feel like you can facilitate a discussion this time?  No problem.  Come to taste the sampler and enjoy yourself!  RSVP’s are appreciated for planning purposes, though not required.  (Because of the small group nature of this event, we will not be live streaming it.)

See you there!

Seth
