Looks like you went to the Haunted Hamburger in Jerome post hike. Good choice, it's a great place. Glad you didn't go to Quince, as it has gone downhill in my opinion. Had charm in Jerome, has lost it and become all hype in Cottonwood. I knew I would have liked that hike with its great views, and your excellent photos bear that out.

It was good to say hello to you guys at the trailhead. Would have been nice to do the hike with you, but the idiot FS volunteer who can't read his own signs about fees made me decide to just keep on trucking, which I did.

I wasn't pissed off with you. I was annoyed with him, and instead of being buffaloed by him like everyone else except you, I should have checked the sign again when you said he was wrong. But by then it was too late, as everyone had paid and was starting down the trail. It made me mad that what he did caused us to lose one of our group for the entire day. It won't happen again.

I suppose I should have stuck the money in the envelope, since I was looking forward to visiting with you guys, etc. But, I was just in the right frame of mind to just say "screw it" and leave. At least I got to say hi!

Great choice! Spectacular views of the Verde Valley for most of the entire hike, and a cool alternative to the summer temps in Phoenix (and Yuma). A good amount of uphill climb toward the end, so not an "easy" hike, but doable in 3 hours...or more, depending on breaks.

I'm going to make every effort to be there but please do not wait for me at the trail head! If I'm not there on time most likely I'll not make it. That said I'm looking forward to seeing you all again :)

Since I'll have Patrick, we'd be open to carpooling. No curfew!

Sounds good. Here is my number[masked] just in case. I don't have a smart phone, so calling or texting is best if there's a change of plans in the morning. Thanks, and I'll see you at 7:15.

I am bringing my dogs so I prob. should just drive?

      September 14, 2013

  • Dan

I would offer to give some Phoenicians a ride, but I'll be coming from Yuma through Yarnell and Prescott, so I'll bypass Phoenix.

Absolutely...I went to the new location in Cottonwood in June and it is still awesome! The motel I'm staying at is and easy walk to the place.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
