HIKE- GADDES CANYON TRAIL -#110 (Mingus Mountain – near Jerome)


A walk through the forest, up to a fire lookout tower, and back.

Time:            4 hrs.

Difficulty:    moderate

Trail:             crushed rock and forest packed dirt

Trailhead  Elevation:   6500 ft.

Elevation  gain:     1296 ft.

Parking:       off road dirt area    . no facilities

Entry fees:   no

Dogs:            OK on leash



Always carry and drink plenty of water! 

Sunscreen and insect repellent is advised.

Supportive footwear is also advisable.

SAFETY FIRST… we have no medical provisions.

Hike at your own risk.


To get to the trailhead: from the Phoenix area, take I-17 North to

Hwy 69 (Prescott exit 262)

and go approx. 21.5 miles

and turn right onto Fain Rd.   

Go approx. 7.2 miles on Fain Rd to Hwy 89A

and turn right (east).

Take this Hwy less than 12 miles to FR104 (on the right).

At the summit of Mingus Mountain,

turn right on the signed junction for the Methodist Camp (FR104).

There will be a brown sign for the Mingus Mountain Campground and you'll see a parking lot (and a small park) just to the left after turning onto FR104.

Take the well graded dirt road FR104 for 1.5 miles and turn right on FR 143

Follow FR143 2.2 miles and veer left and go about  ½ mile more to trail marker on left for trail #110 and park in open area across the road.


Google says the trail head is 1 hours 45 minutes from the I-17 & 101
