Sometimes the hardest part of meet-up groups is taking the first step and attending the first meeting. There are a plethora of reasons people are reluctant to come for the first time, some people worry about whether or not they will find the group. Others worry about what it will be like to walk into a room full of strangers and introduce yourself. Will everyone know each other and not have time for another member?

No, this is a very welcoming group that does its best to be as inclusive as possible. This is an opportunity to set aside the anxiety and take that first step. Late 2008 and early 2009 have brought many new members to the group and this night has been organized for you.

Baby Kay's Cajun Restaurant is centrally located and was rated the best Cajun restaurant in Phoenix by the New Times magazine. The food is excellent and the atmosphere festive, we're hoping for lots of good conversation and lots of laughter.

This event is not limited to new members only, and established members are strongly encouraged to attend, we need people for the new people to meet after-all. Organizers are especially encouraged to attend and welcome the new members.

The event date has been set well ahead of time so that arrangements can be made with the restaurant well ahead of time. RSVP s are encouraged to be made as soon as possible so that we can make a fairly accurate head count and reserve enough tables for everyone. Not immediately, but if we have a good turnout, reserving tables as far ahead of time will help to ensure that things go smoothly.

Because there are so many awesome people attending this event, we have been offered special consideration by Baby Kay's owner and staff.

Reciprocity dictates that we also accommodate Baby Kay's. Since we are a group of loose acquaintances, it would be really easy to walk off without paying a check (though I know none of us would do that) so, please plan to bring cash!

Since we will be bringing Baby Kay's to capacity, we anticipate some patience will be required, and we expect that we will address the staff with only appreciation (though I know none of us would give wait staff a hard time ever).

It will be a chill evening, so bring a jacket!
