Easy Hike - Lonnie Loop from 7th Street Entrance to North Mountain Park

This hike is rated EASY, however, the trail is rocky.

Come out for an evening hike from the 7th Street entrance to North Mountain Park. This is an easy hike and perfect for beginners or if you'd just like to do an easy one for a change. The trails are relatively flat with some gentle ups and downs, and one short but steep hill. We'll take the #100 trail from the 7th Street parking lot to the #306 trail then back to the #100 in a big loop. You're encouraged to bring snacks, cameras, and must bring at least 1+ liter of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear. You should also bring a flashlight and/or a headlamp since we'll be in the dark on this hike.

I saw a skin walker transform from a Coyote to a human as I was leaving the parking lot. I got out of there fast and headed right to McDonalds ... mmmm ... great fries. Thanks Lonnie.

Lol, Jim! I love those lemon drop martinis but I opted for a shamrock shake from McDonalds on the way home. mmmm 2 steps forward with the hike, 2 steps back with the shake :/

Jean! I think I went past four McDonalds last night on the way home after our hike, which I wouldn’t normally even notice. The one closest to home had on their big sign: “SHAMROCK SHAKES” and “Two BIG MACS for $4.44” ~ Hmmm… needless to say I was tempted but I just drove right on by.

Very nice hike, very pleasant people and a great way, also, to lose weight as Lonnie said. I'm glad I hadn't have the pleasure to meet any snake! Jim, maybe a vampire was "right next to you", and you didn't know! You can never know.

Whatever it was, Nina, the eyes glowed very red and then it floated away!

Really energetic hike last night with lots of laughter! Also include were: talks of Dairy Queen and Blizzards, food, martinis, and Shamrock shakes (in alphabetical order). Oh-oh! There could have been glowing red-eyed creatures or vampires out there! Various cyclists put on a couple of fantastic light shows. This was a fun group. Thanks Lonnie!

Thank you for a great night hiking around North Mountain Park. This was my first visit here and I will be sure to go back. Thank you Lonnie for leading us through the park and pointing out the different landmarks and possible creatures we might see. I especially enjoyed hearing about the riparian area and fitness tips.
Very nice to meet everyone tonight and enjoyed the conversations.
