Easy Evening Hike to Stoney Mountain North

This hike is rated EASY.

Come out for an evening hike to Stoney Mountain North. There is some climbing so be prepared for some exertion. Trails are very rocky in places so be sure to wear sturdy hiking boots. We'll take the #100 trail eastward under 7th St (thru the tunnel and the "enchanted forest") into the preserve  and loop around before coming back. You're encouraged to bring snacks, cameras, and must bring at least 1+ liter of water per person, sturdy hiking footwear and a headlamp or flashlight - a portion of the hike will be after dark.

DISTANCE: 3.5 miles round-trip ELEVATION GAIN: 200 ft DURATION: 1.5 hours TRAIL STYLE: Lollipop shape DOGS: Yes, if leashed. FACILITIES: Bathrooms and water fountains WEBSITE: Trailmap

Thanks for sharing the "stats" for those of us without that "thingy". Interesting to know it was a kingsnake. Cool.

Nice cool evening hike, thanks to everyone that hiked. Welcome to all the folks that hiked with me for the first time, I hope you enjoyed the hike and will join us again soon. I'll post information about the snake we saw when I find it.

Do you have a map of the trail itself?

    • Lonnie C.

I do not have a map of the trail. There is a map posted at the trail head but I am not sure how much detail it offers.

My knee is acting up. Don't know if its the weather or my torn meniscus. Been getting prolozone injections. Apparently not working :(. Not happy. I should be running after 4 injections. Hopefully soon I'll be up and good to go. :) see doc Friday.

Jim. These prolozone injection/ with ozone are suppose to promote healing. Heard great things. So I cancelled my surgery to repair my torn meniscus for this. It's been better til lately. Just did a mile the other day and had issues the next day. :(. Not good.

Thanks Hannah. I am trying to heal myself with other methods before going to doctors. Time will tell, and hopefully, heal.
