Lookout Mountain Circumference Trail

This hike is rated EASY.

Starting at 8:30 a.m.

Come on out for an early Sunday morning hike at Lookout Mountain! This trek will take us around the #308 trail in a nice big loop. There are definitely some uphill climbs, so while it's rated easy, first-timers will have to work it a bit.  The pace will be moderate with a few rest stops along the way.

Bring lots of water, snacks, sunscreen, and a camera.  Sturdy hiking boots are recommended.

NOTE:  Park restrooms open approximately at sunrise.

DISTANCE: 3.4 miles roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN: 250 feet more than once
DURATION: 1.5 hours
DOGS: Yes, if leashed
FACILITIES: Bathroom and water fountain
WEBSITE: Trail Map

DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of Cave Creek Road and Sharon Drive, go West on Sharon to 18th Street; head North on 18th Street until it ends. The park entrance is on your right-hand side. Google maps may lead you astray especially if you approach from the north, so follow these directions as you get close!

Good hike, great workout! Good group of people as usual and an excellent leader in Jim. Below is the link to the video of Simba being asked if he wants to go hiking. And yes, this was after he followed me around for almost an hour whining and looking hopeful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlY8BbykJz8&feature=youtu.be

A really nice, crisp hike this morning. Good cool Group that stayed together and I heard lots of laughter during the whole hike. Lookout Mountain offers great exercise. Too bad all the no-shows missed their opportunity to work it! The views of the Valley in every direction were crystal-clear, except for the moisture mist.

Hmmm… someone new sounds familiar. Thanks to Pam for being my ‘limited’ bodyguard this morning and always to Sabrina and Simba for being the very best Sweeps!

I didn't look at the whole write up on this hike until now to see the disclaimer. So, I succumb to my GPS making me almost 30 minutes late. I have never hiked LOM before, so at least know where it is next time.
