Level: Easy,  2 miles, 1.5 hours, 400 feet elevation gain

The Phoenix Mountain Preserves had over 150 mines.  Cactus Town, an old historic town south of Thunderbird, west of Cave Creek, once had a post office and was key to the supply chain for this mining community. It is also responsible for giving Cactus Road its name.

Angel, was a landowner/miner that built two dwellings on his land in order to stake his claim and mine his land.  These homes have since deteriorated but stand as reminders of our past.  We will be hiking to discover these historic sites.  We will start on the trail 100 and loop around the Skyline Trail.

I had a really fun time taking you all out there today. It is amazing that someone on the hike knows someone who's grandpa was born in Cactus Town. Wow! That piece of info gets logged in the hiking journal. I would love to meet someone who lived out here back then or their family member.

Slight change in my info. The person who was born in Cactus Town was the boss of my friend. The man is now about 75 years old.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
