Feed My Starving Children (FMSC)

Please join the Phoenix Philanthropists for its volunteer effort to benefit Feed My Starving Children.  We will be helping create "Manna Pack" meals which will be distributed to those in need. We'll have fun and know that we're making a difference in children's lives around the world.

LOCATION: 7965 S. Priest Drive, Suite #106 (across the street from Dos Gringos)

TIME: 6 - 7:30 pm.  This event will be scheduled twice a month, usually every other Thursday (but sometimes on a Wednesday).

GUESTS: If you are bringing a guest, please add a comment and include their name(s).  This way, we can make a nametag for them.

AGE GUIDELINES:

  • The minimum age to volunteer at FMSC is 5 years old.
  • Please follow the student-to-adult ratios when registering to volunteer.

Grade 10-12: 5 students to 1 adult
Grade 7-9:     4 students to 1 adult
Grade 3-6:     3 students to 1 adult
Grade K-2:     1 student to 1 adult

DRESS: Please wear closed toe shoes.  Also, FMSC requires that all jewelry and other accessories be removed.

ATTENDANCE: When you arrive, please sign in at the computers by the entrance doors.  Also, make sure to get a nametag from David, Lori, or Chris.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update your RSVP as soon as you can if you are unable to make the event.  This allows other volunteers the opportunity to participate and most importantly allows us to keep our commitments to best assist FMSC.  Please see PP's Attendance Policy below.

Phoenix Philanthropists Attendance Policy: We understand that plans change and emergencies come up. If you RSVP YES but can no longer attend, PLEASE change your RSVP ASAP. Our charity partners rely on us to attend when we say we will and our attendance policy is intended to ensure we can meet our charity partners' expectations. Please give as much prior notice as possible, but at a minimum of 2 hours notice for this event before canceling. No Call/No Shows will be recorded, and after 3 No Call No Shows/month or 6 No Call No Shows/year, you will be removed from the Phoenix Philanthropists MeetUp. Please understand this policy is not intended to penalize our philanthropists, but to ensure we maintain good relationships with our charity partners and can give the most back to our community.

I had such a great time. My table was staffed by a group of 5th grade girls who had a ton of energy. It is so great to see them giving at such a young age. We are training lifelong volunteers in addition to feeding children. Great time!

Our table was outproduced by the others, and they were primarily staffed with children! Next time, I suggest we institute Soviet-style production quotas and penalize the slow workers. :p

I am so disapointed I can't come tonight but I'm not feeling well and I really don't want to get anyone else sick, especially the first time I join you. I will look forward to seeing you all next time.

What kind of building is this?? Is there a name on the front or is it located in another storefront's building?

    February 19, 2013

    • Lori

It is a one-level office building facing Priest. Oaisys is in one suite and Feed My Starving Children, with its name on the door, is in the other suite. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!
