ABOUT Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit Christian organization, welcoming volunteers of all beliefs, where children and adults hand-pack meals, specially formulated for malnourished children, to be shipped to nearly 70 countries around the world.
In just two and a half years, the volunteer response at the Tempe FMSC location has been so successful, creating over 13 million meals for the world's most malnourished children, that FMSC is now planning to open a second Phoenix-area location. This expansion will not only greatly increase the number of local volunteers, but is expected to more than double the area's current production of life-saving food.
You can make a huge difference by helping to raise $3 Million for a second FMSC Phoenix-area location through fundraising efforts, then have an absolute blast with a team of Phoenix Philanthropists in this very special packing session at the Phoenix Convention Center, where 1 Million Meals will be packed by 5000 volunteers in just 24 hours! Each packing participant who raises a minimum of $25 (see RSVP Requirements & Important Instructions below), and commits to trying to fundraise at least $100 more, will receive a special FMSC Event T-shirt.
RSVP REQUIREMENTS BEFORE YOU RSVP, please read this ENTIRE posting. This special event is a fundraiser and requires a minimum $25 donation from each packing participant to be posted to their Personal FMSC Fundraising Page (see Important Instructions below) within 72 hours of RSVPing, and a commitment to try to fundraise an additional $100 or more.
If your RSVP includes a guest, please email the Event Host (Lori) the name and email address of your guest, and then have them follow the same Important Instructions below.
AGE GUIDELINES This is a family-friendly event. The minimum age to volunteer is 5-years-old.
If adding children as guests, please follow the child-to-adult ratios below:
Grade 10-12: 5 children to 1 adult
Grade 7-9: 4 children to 1 adult
Grade 3-6: 3 children to 1 adult
Grade K-2: 1 child to 1 adult
For your safety, please wear closed-toed shoes. Due to FDA requirements, volunteers will need to remove all jewelry, including earrings, watches, rings, necklaces, pins, brooches, etc.
Upon RSVPing to this Meetup posting to participate in both packingandfundraising, please follow the steps below to create your Personal Fundraising Page, and ensure a minimum $25 donation is made to it within 72 hours of your RSVP.
3. Complete member information form to create a Personal Fundraising Page, and bookmark your new page to save the link.
4. Personalize your Personal Fundraising Page (optional, and can be done anytime).
5. Tell friends and family about the great work FMSC does and how their Phoenix expansion will help so many more malnourished children around the world, and provide them the link to your Personal Fundraising Page to make donations.
6. Ensure at least $25 in donations shows on your Personal Fundraising Page within 72 hours of your RSVP in order to reserve your packing spot and special Event T-shirt.

Community Through Philanthropy
Phoenix Philanthropists is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and we use the Meetup.com to schedule volunteer opportunities in the greater Phoenix Metro Area.
As a nonprofit, we currently facilitate three programs.
1. Philanthropic Service Program
This program connects individuals and groups in sharing of their time and talent with nonprofit organizations on a regular and special event basis. Special volunteer projects are also facilitated by the Phoenix Philanthropists throughout the greater Phoenix Metro Area.
2. Philanthropy Education Program (PEP)
A comprehensive educational program that teaches youth and adults about the meaning and importance of philanthropy in our community.
3. Philanthropic Scholarship Program
A scholarship program for those who exhibit outstanding philanthropic contributions in our community through volunteerism. Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis.
We do not charge a membership fee to volunteer as we feel everyone should be able to contribute to helping others regardless of their financial situation. If you would like to support our efforts, please visit our SUPPORT US page on our website and make a donation for any amount.
So now what? Volunteer in Phoenix! This group is open to anyone who has a desire to make a difference in other people's lives. Single? Married? Kids? It does not matter. What does matter is that you are reliable and professional when participating in group functions. We welcome families, youth groups, corporate groups and individuals. We are very passionate about getting the youth in our community more involved with volunteer opportunities.
When RSVPing, please keep in mind you are committing time to helping nonprofit organizations and people who need your help and are counting on it. The dynamics are different than the social Meetup groups, where it isn't as big of a deal if you don't show up. Please be responsible and cancel your RSVP at least 48 hours in advance if you can't make it. If you sign up for a wait list, consider it as your being on call for work. If you cannot fill in at the list minute and your plans change, please take yourself off the wait list. I do understand that things come up sometime. Just be mindful of what this group is about and those that we commit our time to.
