Fundraiser & Special Packing Event for FMSC

24 Hours • 5000 Volunteers • 1 Million Meals

And more fun than anyone should ever have in a hairnet!

Join the Phoenix Philanthropists Hairnet Heroes for Feed My Starving Children's Very Special Change The World from Phoenix fundraiser and exciting packing session 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, April 13th at the Phoenix Convention Center!

Please read this ENTIRE posting, before you RSVP!

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit Christian organization, welcoming volunteers of all beliefs, where children and adults hand-pack meals, specially formulated for malnourished children, to be shipped to nearly 70 countries around the world.

In just two and a half years, the volunteer response at the Tempe FMSC location has been so successful, creating over 13 million meals for the world's most malnourished children, that FMSC is now planning to open a second Phoenix-area location.  This expansion will not only greatly increase the number of local volunteers, but is expected to more than double the area's current production of life-saving food.

You can make a huge difference by helping to raise $3 Million for a second FMSC Phoenix-area location through fundraising efforts, then have an absolute blast with a team of Phoenix Philanthropists in this very special packing session at the Phoenix Convention Center, where 1 Million Meals will be packed by 5000 volunteers in just 24 hours! Each packing participant who raises a minimum of $25 (see RSVP Requirements & Important Instructions below), and commits to trying to fundraise at least $100 more, will receive a special FMSC Event T-shirt.

BEFORE YOU RSVP, please read this ENTIRE posting. This special event is a fundraiser and requires a minimum $25 donation from each packing participant to be posted to their Personal FMSC Fundraising Page (see Important Instructions below) within 72 hours of RSVPing, and a commitment to try to fundraise an additional $100 or more.

If your RSVP includes a guest, please email the Event Host (Lori) the name and email address of your guest, and then have them follow the same Important Instructions below.

This is a family-friendly event. The minimum age to volunteer is 5-years-old.

  • If adding children as guests, please follow the child-to-adult ratios below:

Grade 10-12: 5 children to 1 adult
Grade 7-9:     4 children to 1 adult
Grade 3-6:     3 children to 1 adult
Grade K-2:     1 child to 1 adult

For your safety, please wear closed-toed shoes. Due to FDA requirements, volunteers will need to remove all jewelry, including earrings, watches, rings, necklaces, pins, brooches, etc.

Upon RSVPing to this Meetup posting to participate in both packing and fundraising, please follow the steps below to create your Personal Fundraising Page, and ensure a minimum $25 donation is made to it within 72 hours of your RSVP.

1. Go to this Phoenix Philanthropists Team FMSC page

2. Create User Name and Password.

3. Complete member information form to create a Personal Fundraising Page, and bookmark your new page to save the link.

4. Personalize your Personal Fundraising Page (optional, and can be done anytime).

5. Tell friends and family about the great work FMSC does and how their Phoenix expansion will help so many more malnourished children around the world, and provide them the link to your Personal Fundraising Page to make donations.

6. Ensure at least $25 in donations shows on your Personal Fundraising Page within 72 hours of your RSVP in order to reserve your packing spot and special Event T-shirt.

Please check here regularly for updates, fundraising tips, event night theme, specific meet-up spot, etc.

Thank you Tami & friends and David & son for participating in this very special event. Not only did you help FMSC create 1 million nutritious meals for our world's most malnourished children, but you've gotten FMSC much closer to opening a second location, by exceeding our big $2000 fundraising goal! And even more donations are expected to come in! Great job Changing The World from Phoenix, Philanthropists! Hope you had a wonderful time! Thank you for everything you've done to make this project such a great success!

We're now in 3rd place and just $65 away from our $2000 goal. What will you do to get us past our goal?

    April 11, 2013

  • Lori

We just moved into 4th place of all fundraising teams, and can take 3rd with just $151 more! Great job, Hairnet Heroes! Thank you for making such an amazing and life-saving difference!

Don't forget to post to social media, call mom & dad, and send texts to your friends.

If you'd like a posting suggestion, I just received a couple donations after posting this to Facebook tonight with a link to my fundraising page:

Just a few days left before Feed My Starving Children's big Change The World from Phoenix event in which 5000 volunteers will pack 1 million meals in 24 hours to raise enough money to double Arizona's life-saving food production through the opening of a second Phoenix-area location. Please help me reach my fundraising goal to help end hunger and starvation. Every dollar makes a difference, and is greatly appreciated!

Excellent job, Hairnet Heroes! You've already raised an additional $275 today! That's amazing! Let's keep it going!

Here's the link to see the team total, or to get to your page

Be sure your friends and family are on your page when they donate, so it credits to your total. If someone has donated but you don't see it added to your total, please forward their receipt to me.

Thank you for all you're doing to put an end to hunger and starvation!

Excellent news! Phoenix Philanthropists are in 5th place out of the 69 teams currently fundraising! What's even better news is that most of our hairnetly heroic team are at the minimum donation level, so there's tons & tons of opportunity to reach our $2000 goal. And even betterer news?! The team in 4th place is only $100 ahead. So let's take 4th before the weekend!

Here are 2 really easy things you can try right now that have worked for me:

•Text the link to your personal fundraising page to your good friends & family.

•Post the link to your personal fundraising page to your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts. Here's our team page

If you need the link to your personal page, simply go to the team page, and click on your name. To get a shortened link to send & post, from YOUR page, click on the small green icon under your name, then click on the email envelope icon. You can then copy, to paste anywhere, the shortened link that populates on an email draft.

    Thanks, David
