Food Box Distribution at Paz de Cristo

Join the Phoenix Philanthropists for a wonderful experience outside in the gorgeous weather at Paz de Cristo Outreach Center welcoming less fortunate East Valley neighbors and assisting them in getting food boxes filled with essentials. Each month, through the help of volunteers, Paz de Cristo distributes over 1300 food boxes to those most in need.  In a very friendly and welcoming environment, help guide and assist clients as they make their much-needed selections in the food pantry--it's a fun and rewarding way to make a difference.

Important Information -

Assist in welcoming clients in the waiting area and walking with them across the parking lot to the pantry; providing clients with a box and pushcart; assisting clients with their selections at each food station in the pantry; helping clients load boxes into their vehicles; retrieving carts from the parking lot.

The minimum age to volunteer at Paz de Cristo is 12-years-old, and we are limited as a group, not individuals, to a student-to-adult ratio.  The ratio on this date is 1-student-to-7-adult Philanthropists, for a total of 8 volunteers.  As the one (1) student spot is  available on a FIRST-COME/FIRST-SERVED basis, please check comments to see if there is indication that it is already taken, and, if not, RSVP for yourself and a guest, then email the host with the name and age of the student you would like to bring to check for availability. If a student spot is no longer available, you will be notified.

Please wear comfortable clothing (no bare midriffs/shoulders, tank tops, spaghetti straps, or short shorts) and, for your safety, you must wear closed-toed shoes.

Please only park behind (north of) the building to the left as you enter from Broadway, even if you have to double, triple, or quadruple park.  The rest of the parking lot is needed for the high volume of client traffic.  Then walk to the other (east most) building and go to the entrance on the west side, walk through the warehouse, all the way to the breakroom and sign in at the breakroom table.

A delicious lunch is provided to volunteers during a lunch break.  Water is available in the breakroom at anytime.

If you have not already, please complete the online Phoenix Philanthropists Release Form.  A form should also be completed by any adults guests of members; and for each participating child under 18, by their parent or legal guardian. Though the instructions on this form still say to print it, that is not necessary as the form is now fully automated.

As Paz de Cristo asks for the exact amount of volunteers needed to make the night run seamlessly for everyone, it is VERY IMPORTANT you change your RSVP to "NO," if you are no longer able to attend, and that you DO NOT CANCEL ON THE LAST DAY, as all spots need to be filled

Phoenix Philanthropists Attendance Policy: We understand that plans change and emergencies come up. If you RSVP YES but can no longer attend, PLEASE change your RSVP ASAP. Our charity partners rely on us to attend when we say we will and our attendance policy is intended to ensure we can meet our charity partners' expectations. Please give as much prior notice as possible, but at a minimum of 2 hours notice for this event before canceling. No Call/No Shows will be recorded, and after 3 No Call No Shows/month or 6 No Call No Shows/year, you will be removed from the Phoenix Philanthropists Meetup. Please understand this policy is not intended to penalize our philanthropists, but to ensure we maintain good relationships with our charity partners and can give the most back to our community.

I'm so sorry everyone; I got ready to be out my door by 9:15 (I live in North Phoenix and didn't want to be late), and ended up with car troubles. I've had the neighbor try to jump it, but its not starting. I'm so sorry I had to cancel last minute- I am not one to normally do that and I feel absolutely awful!!! :( I have wanted to do volunteer work for Paz de Cristo for a while now and I love volunteering for Phoenix Philanthropists, so please don't think that I don't take it seriously. I hope to be able to join you all in the future. Again, I'm so sorry! :( I hope you had enough people!

Thank you all for signing up for this wonderful project to help our brothers and sisters in need! Tomorrow will be such a beautiful day to be working with the guests in the outside and open air environment. We still have a couple open spots, so please consider bringing a guest, if you can. Just be sure to make sure there is still a spot available, and change your RSVP to reflect the guest. Please remember to park in the small are behind the building to the left as you drive in, even if you have to double, triple, quadruple park. The larger parking area is reserved for the high volume of guests who are expected. Don't forget to sit down and enjoy the nice provided lunch, during a break or just after your shift.

Thank you for your dedication to those in need, and to making this a better world. I hope each of you has a wonderful experience!
