Skeptics in the Pub - Sleepy Dog

Skeptics -

Join fellow lovers of science and reason for some drinks, food, and conversation at one of our favorite spots: Sleepy Dog Brewery in Tempe. There's no lecture or formal discussion; this is strictly a social meetup. The idea is to hang out with other skeptics and talk about the many areas of interest to the our community: paranormal claims (ghosts, psychics), conspiracy theories (9/11 "Truth", HAARP), denialism (climate, evolution), pseudoscience (homeopathy, acupuncture), marketing (balance bands, "super fruit" juice)...the list of BS is endless.

The world is full of superstition, bad arguments, and unquestioned assumptions. Consider our meetup an oasis in the desert. See you at the pub!

Q: What is a skeptic?

A: "A skeptic provisionally proportions acceptance of any claim to valid logic and a fair and thorough assessment of available evidence, and studies the pitfalls of human reason and the mechanisms of deception so as to avoid being deceived by others or themselves. Skepticism values method over any particular conclusion." - Dr. Steven Novella

Matt, do you need someone else to host the book club this month?

Thanks for the offer anyway! I'm sorry you didn't like it. Right when I started I thought of you and said, "Uh oh..."

I love a guy who tries to use rational arguments and data to try to assert that science and rationality aren't the best way to understand the world?! Huh? OK done.
