Let's get together for a photowalk in San Francisco. I know this is a bit of a different locale than our normal events, but San Francisco is such a great walking city and a fun way to shoot street.
If you haven't been on a photowalk before, it's simply a way for people of all skill levels to get together and take pictures. You can definitely do your own thing, but I encourage you to regroup at the check points so that we can socialize while we shoot. It's a very relaxed, casual way meet new people. It's also very fun to watch how other people "visualize" a scene, and get an idea of what their eye sees.
Here's the course for the group activity:
First we'll visit the Ferry Building
We'll head out across Justin Herman Plaza
Head towards the TransAmerica building
Cut over to Chinatown & Portsmouth Square
Wrap up with dinner in Chinatown (Yuet Lee Seafood, family style Catoneese, bring cash to cover the bill)
Wear comfortable shoes, and expect that we'll be doing about 10 to 15 blocks of walking.
You don't need an expensive camera, and you don't need to bring a lot of gear. In fact, carrying lots of gear works against you.
Thanks and see you in San Francisco!
