Pinnacles and Condors

! ! ! Moving this from Monday to preceding Sunday. ! ! !

Still leave around 8am arrive around 10am.
Bring sturdy shoes, a lunch, water.

Lots of opportunities (macro, wide ange, vistas, people (us), tele (condors). Some of us are likely to stay close to the cars others will hike to the condors.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Tentatively scheduled for Presidents weekend February. This will be the 3rd annual Pinnacles National Monument photo shoot.

Info

This time of year the Pinnacles are GREEN and RED and the Condors are out. It is a hiking trip as those who have been on the last 2 years can atest. For the last 2 years we have been lucky and had spectacular clouds as well.

More details as the date draws closer.

It is an all day outing with opportunities for both wide angle and telephoto lens

-----------------------------
It has been pointed out to me that Presidents Weekend is the weekend after the 12th. Given the large number of RSVPs for the 12th, we will keep it there.

It is a good 2 hours drive south of here. We will be going to the WEST side of the Pinnacles via Soledad, not the EAST side via Hollister. Leave San Jose around 8am meet in the parking lot at 10am.

As such we need to start thinking about carpooling. Lets post who is available to take extra people and who needs a ride.

Wear sturdy shoes, bring water bottles and a lunch as well as raincoat if it looks threatening

Weather was great. Overcast in the morning, sunburned in the afternoon. Not as green as last year, but still nice. It would have been better if the Condors had shown up as scheduled rather than waiting until after we left.

The early morning sprinkles stopped right on schedule allowing a cool late morning hike up the trail. As we ate a noontime lunch at the top, the Condors probably took off from the other side of the rocks. We didn't see the Condors flying until we started down the mountain at 4pm. Get those birds a watch next time! This was my first time with The South Bay Photography group. I enjoyed learning photo techniques with some very knowledgable photographers!

Didn't see anyone at parking lot, only ran into one person on trail. Was anyone else out there? We need to work on 'on site communication' for next trip. :-)
