Street Photography.

Any street photographers in this group? Unite! Let's go out in the South Bay and have some shooting fun. I'm relatively new to the area so I'd need a suggestion as to where we would go.

Thanks Allan for organizing this. It was great fun shooting the auto demolition derby. People if you signed up but decided not to come some courtesy of changing your RSVP would be appreciated. 51 people signed up but only me and Allan showed up? Why signed up if you don't plan on coming?

Yeah I will be there tonight too.

This is such a large group and some might not be interested watching the derby so i would suggest we have a little discussion tomorrow when we all meet (immediately after the entrance).

I also see a people who RSVP'd here will be attending the downtown photo walk tonight so we can also discuss some more details.

Are we going to meet at a certain spot tomorrow at the County Fair to browse the fair together as a group? Or are we just going to be on our own?

Yay! Just got the $25 combo ticket (with a $2+ fee). So excited to go shoot photos and have fun there!

Also, the Demolition Derby is $20 in addition, $25 if you don't buy in advance.

They do offer a combo of admission + Demolition Derby ticket = $25, if purchased before August 4th.

    Oh, and parking is $5.

lol - this is getting long.

To recap, if you want to go to the Demolition Derby and are driving a car and want to pay in advance the price is $30

It will be a blast if a good portion of the RSVP's will show up :) We can still change the time so it is closer to dusk for night photography if majority will prefer :)

I would suggest we just hang around immediately after the entrance at 4:00 to 4:15.

Lets go to Santa Clara Country Fair :)

    July 8, 2012

  • Allan D.

How about Santa Clara County Fair on August 4, there will be a lot of people and colorful materials we can capture both day and night including a car demolition derby that would be exciting to capture.

Or back to Los Gatos, santa cruz avenue late afternoon early evening, pretty busy place. There's nearby Forbes Mill, picturesque.

Another possibility is downtown san jose. I recently spent the day there with a friend. Lots of artwork & interesting buildings; can be quite a few people in the center of town (around market/first/) although I was shooting that day for things rather than people--here's a blog post with some of my photos and I barely scratched the surface. http://dogblog.finchester.org/2012/05/have-camera-will-go-to-downtown-san.html. Early evening would be nice, too--theater lights & such.

One possibility: How about downtown Los Gatos on farmer's market day? Sundays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is interesting, lots of people (and dogs) there and wandering around town, coffee shops, the los gatos creek trail nearby that's popular with hikers. Old Town is interesting and is fairly popular later in the morning/midday.

I'll try to make the meetup once a time/date is proposed.
